Match Report by Paul Beck

A windy afternoon on Merseyside for the Tigers boys to stretch there legs, against Unibond Division 1 side Prescot Cables, however it was there second string both sides fielded against each other. New trialist Andy Plant was tested which forced in form Mike Gray to return to the bench for the first time in 8 reserve matches, and Ross Anderton made his first apperance relegating Dawson Bryan to the bench. After a tense start to the game the Tigers found the centre of the pitch a doddle and when CHASING latched onto a through ball from Al-Dosari he trickled the ball past the Prescot keeper for 0-1 to Worksop. Prescot however had different plans and soon took advantage of poor defending from Anderton and striker Anthony Chambers levelled  to make it 1-1. On 37 minutes Andy Plant went off after not impressing and Mike Gray came on to try and strengthen the left flank, Gray almost straight away made a lovely touch to squeeze through the Prescot right back and managed to pull a low cross in which Chasing deflected against the post. Still Worksop kept coming and soon they were rewarded when Al-Dosari won the ball just inside the Worksop half he played the ball to Gray who instead of charging down the wing he picked out CARSS with a beautiful long ball and he did the rest of the work by smashing the ball home from 15 yards to make it 1-2.
HALF TIME PRESCOT CABLES 1-2 WORKSOP TOWN
In the second half Prescot had not woken up and straight away gave away a free kick next to the left corner flag, Ahyed Al- Dosari took the resulting free kick, there was a huge goal mouth scramble and finally the ball bobbled out of the area and GRAY took no time in rifling the ball straight through the herd in the penalty area and straight into the top corner for 1-3.  On 65 minutes Dawson Bryan came on to replace Steven Green, with not much to do in defence Worksop pushed most of the team forward and it was 1-4 when Stonebridge and Gray managed a superb one two before Gray smashed in a corner ,Carss controlled the ball and passed it to CHASING who from 3 yards out could not miss. Prescot were reducded to 10 men when Carl Farrell went in two footed on Ben Chasing resulting in a brawl on the field, soon after Chasing came on Lee Reynolds for Prescot did the same on Gray who reacted badly and lunged at Reynolds knocking him over so Gray recieved his 3rd red card of the season and then Chasing was dismissed for defending him. Thats Prescot down to 10 men with only Reynolds seeing yellow and Worksop down to 9 men with Chasing and Gray off. Prescot then pulled one back when the defence was caught off guard and foul culprit Reynolds sliced home a close range effort to make it 2-4. However that was not it as in injury time right back DE LAU manged to fire home from 25 yards and the ball was deflected in to make the score 2-5 and that was the way it stayed
